Sauna is good for the skinWebAssets2/Sauna.jpg

The analysis of skin properties was done in a group, consisting of 40 persons 20-49 years old, regularly visiting sauna. The following properties were analyzed: moisture, barrier function, quantity of skin fat,  pH of skin surface, tendency to reddening.  The same parameters were determined in a control group of persons never visiting sauna. It turned out that the skin of sauna lovers had better barrier function, more stable pH and restored quicker after loss of moisture due to being in sauna for 15 minutes at 80˚ C. Skin reddening due to high temperature was not so considerable in sauna haunters as compared with those who just started to visit sauna recently. Besides, the skin in sauna lovers appeared to be less oily as compared with the group that had never visited sauna.
